自從收到第二份功課的內容後,我開始留意自己的言談舉止,發現自己上堂的時候很常講「Can
you follow?」(抱歉不是WORD,而是SENTENCE),這個問題通常會在我教完一個概念之後,就會不期然的問道這個問題。學生會用點頭或者搖頭來回應,我就會就著他們的反應來決定接下來的時間運用,選擇把剛才所說的概念用第二個方式演繹,還是繼續教下去。
為了令自己的問題變得更有意義 (也是為了做這份功課),我選擇了不再問這個空泛的問題,取而代之的,是問一條與教授的課題有關的問題,要學生回答剛才學了甚麼,明白了甚麼,記得了甚麼。這個轉變令學生更加認真聆聽我的課堂 (因為他們必須回答剛學到的實則東西),但不好處是教弱班的時候,雲遊的學生往往就是支吾其詞,比平時花多了許多時間。
我選擇注意的學生是一位SEN的學生,他長期都像是發白日夢,並沒有看著我/白板,也沒有拿起過筆寫字,而全程看著一個定點 (例如是地板),我一向的做法都是於課堂內問他問題,以引起他的注意;或者講到重點的時候,點名要他抄下來。
在教學的時候,我通常都會站在白板前教授,手指白板,側身站立以一邊寫白板一邊望著學生表情。除了注意白板上寫的板書是否清晰,我比較集中望著男孩子,因為他們比較嘈吵,我需要用「眼睛」來管理他們在課堂的秩序。
最後,我一句的開場白通常都是「Good Morning class, please
take out your textbook and notes」,而結尾則通常是「Remember to
finish the homework XXXXXX. Good bye class」(又超了字數,下次盡量不會……562 words)
Would be interesting to know what you think about the change of questioning technique. I like the way you weigh in on the positive and negative of the new strategy. Keep "noticing"!

回覆刪除I'm glad to read this passage to know more about the situation in your lesson. I believe most of your students are good as they use nod or shaking their head to respond their understanding of what you’re teaching. In my school, maybe due to the lower age, they always say yes even they cannot follow what you teach. It is difficult to find their understanding of the lesson. So I usually set some short task to them in order to let me know how many percentage they learn in this lesson. The encourage thing is that they like to do these kind of task to show their ability to their classmates that they are good at mathematics. Even their ability is weak, they also want to try.
I am glad to hear that there are some changes in your lesson and make the question that you raise become more meaningful. It is a good habit to try something different in our class. Let’s do it together!
Besides, I also noticed a boy who is an SEN student last week. The common of they is they cannot respond well in our class. He showed he is in day dreaming mode to me. I feel it’s a bit difficult to handle this kind of kids when there are lots of SEN student in your class. If I pay lots of attention to them, maybe the overall of my teaching is affected due to the reduction of teaching time. I am trying to get the balance between taking care of the needy in the class and the quality of my teaching. Let’s share our ideas next time that we meet.
